Chairman's Message

The year 2025 commemorates the 155th Anniversary of TWGHs. Since its establishment in 1870, the Group has been upholding its mission “to heal the sick and to relieve the distressed, to care for the elderly and to rehabilitate the disabled, to promote education and to nurture the youngsters, and to raise the infants and to guide the youth.” By standing alongside Hong Kong people and keeping abreast of the times, TWGHs has become the longest-standing and most comprehensive charitable organisation across the territory. As Chairman of the Board of Directors 2025/2026, I am honoured to witness this significant moment of the Group’s 155th Anniversary alongside members of the Advisory Board, my fellow Board members, donors, partner organisations and all staff members.

Under the theme of “Kindness makes a difference”, the symbol “∞”, representing limitless possibilities, has been incorporated into the design of this year’s logo to signify the Group’s ever-expanding philanthropic endeavours. Regardless of how times change, we firmly believe that TWGHs’ charity spirit will remain steadfast. We will continue to broaden our scope of services across 5 major areas, namely healthcare, education, social services, cultural heritage preservation, and traditional services, promoting diverse development through innovative ideas that benefit the public. I will do my utmost to uphold TWGHs’ spirit of “Kindness makes a difference”.

In celebration of its 155th anniversary, TWGHs has launched a new corporate video titled “Always by Your Side” and produced an anthem called “A Song from the Distant Past”, marking an important new chapter for our new journey. To celebrate this significant milestone, we will launch a series of activities throughout the year, covering areas such as healthcare, education, social services, cultural heritage preservation, traditional services, and fund-raising. We warmly invite the public to join us in revisiting the glorious history of the holistic development of TWGHs and Hong Kong, while continuing to work together with us to foster a harmonious community through collective wisdom and coordinated efforts.

The growth of TWGHs is attributable to the strong support from ministries of Central People's Government, the HKSAR Government, Directors of successive Boards, donors, corporations and the public. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to each of them for their guidance and generosity over the years, which has enabled us to grow from strength to strength. Looking ahead, we will continue to build on our past while embracing innovation to expand our charitable services, creating a better tomorrow for the people of Hong Kong.
